Apple drops the price of the iPhone 4S to $99, iPhone now free on contract

Now that the iPhone 5 has been introduced, with pricing and release dates already known, it’s now time for Apple to reduce the prices of previous iPhone modles. Specifically, these are the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. So, the iPhone 4S (16GB) is now available for $99 with a two-year contract. The 8GB iPhone 4 is now available for free, also when under carrier contract.

Unfortunately, there could only be a few iPhone in Apple’s line up and sadly, the oldest iPhone to date, the iPhone 3GS has to be retired. Launched on June 8 2009, this iPhone happens to be the longest staying iPhone in Apple’s line up. But all good things come to an end, and so it was just transferred to the retirement pool.

This now puts all the currently available iPhone models running on both GSM and CDMA since the iPhone 3GS is on GSM network only.

So, again – are you going to get the new iPhone 5 or settle with the older iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S? The deal for these old iPhone models seem to be pretty good, right?
